TEHRAN (IQNA) – The moment of death is very sensitive and very dangerous. Even the righteous feel fear and worries but they experience a different situation than evil-doers.

Death

There are references to this in verses of the Quran and Hadiths, including the following:

1- The Holy Quran says: “On the day when they will be brought into the presence of their Lord, their greeting to each other will be, ‘Peace be with you.’ God has prepared an honorable reward for them.” (Verse 44 of Surah Al-Ahzab)

2- In another part of the Quran, God says: “O satisfied soul, return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing.” (Verses 27-28) of Surah Al-Fajr)

Late Allameh Tabatabaei cites a Hadith in interpreting these verses, saying when a believer is dying, he is afraid, but the one tasked with taking his soul comforts him and says: “Why are you afraid? I am kinder to you than your father. Pen your eyes.” The believer then opens his eyes and sees the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imams (AS) and then he is told by God: “O satisfied soul, return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing.”

3- In Verse 30 of Surah Al-Fussilat we read: “The angels will descend on those who said: ‘Allah is Our Lord,’ and have then gone straight, (saying:) ‘Be neither fearful, nor sad; rejoice in the Paradise you have been promised.’”

There are two words in this verse: Khawf (fear) and Huzn (sadness). Khawf is fear about future dangers and Huzn is fear about dark past. (Al-Mizan Exegesis of the Quran)

According to a Hadith from Imam Sadiq (AS), this descending of angels and the good news given to the faithful is at the time of death. (Al-Mizan Exegesis of the Quran)

4- The Quran say in Verse 32 of Surah An-Nahl: “They will be received by the angels of mercy with the greeting, ‘Peace be with you. Enter Paradise as a reward for your good deeds.’”

5- And there are also Verses 62-64 of Surah Yunus: “Indeed, there shall be neither fear nor sorrow upon the guided by Allah. Those who believe and are cautious. There is for them glad tidings in this present life and in the Everlasting Life. The Word of Allah is unchanging, that is the mighty triumph.”

According to a Hadith from Imam Sadiq (AS), the glad tidings in this verse refer to those given to believers at the time of death. (Al-Mizan Exegesis of the Quran)
